I saw ritsch zipper on some original tunics.
maybe it is a war period field upgrade like this.

    Greetings Andi
The zipper mark could be the same but the pattern show in the pictures are not exact that sewed in the tunic. I´m sure ritsch continued producing his products after the war.
The tunic has a lot of white stains in the wool and liner, difficult to see in the pictures but they are present. If you compare the zipper is in better condition than the wrap black wool.

Everything was salvaged and reused after the War for clothing, even if the zipper dates to the War it does not mean the conversion is from the War. I have seen RiRi zippers used on womens skirts.

Nobody is saying the zipper is original pre 1945, just this is a style used in period. The post war zipper could be added later. That jacket was and is very interesting for me and for many Panzer collector, I am sorry to have seen later.
          Just my opinion.

are not exactly the same but same style.
For sure this modified tunics was used during the war, but we are talking just about this one.

Luca, the HG jacket looks very nice!!!!!!!

There are other examples in reference books as well like this, Krawczyk's panzer book etc. but it always comes down to when was it done. Does it have traces of insignia on the modified collar or an eagle?

I will not post the other pictures because they are copyrighted but the other is the same book as well.

I know there are real examples but that does not mean the one that started the thread is real etc. I saw people wearing modified WWII clothing in Germany as late as the 1980's. I think if the insignia was on the modified collar than that would suggest it was a wartime modifacation.

I believe that Wade K. had an interview with H. Elsner, the owner of the jacket. And I have seen pictures of this interview but I´m not sure where. The tunic is named and he is sure the modification 100% wartime. I think there is not other way to know if it´s original.

Bob, I'am agree with you, but much worn material show the same effect.
The zipper construction looks wartime. The collar hook looks good.
Very difficult to clarify. Some better picture would be help. The tunic construction we cant see.

                          Greetings Andi

The white stains are just normal mildew. Ask for pictures of the collar. I thought the auction ended?
