Nice picture, looks like an upgraded M43 pressed open in late War fashion. The pockets look very small, it could even be a tailor-made jacket.

      Nice picture..

Could it be a m44 tunic?.. there are no collar hooks..

I think its an M44 as well. Note the button spacing - wouldn't a M43 have the buttons closer together?

The buttons seem pretty close for an m44 and the pockets look small as mentioned. I am leaning closer to a tailor-made jacket based on an M43. It is possbile, if he is large it would make the pockets look small I guess. Actually looking at it now it could be an M44, the top button is farther apart from the second to the top.

I see what you mean, also the rounded collar tips do appear tailor-made.

Looks like a M44 to me as well, with late machine embroidered tabs (Infantry in the period photo)

I think the picture is an odd angle too he is leaning inwards. I guess it could also be a tailor-made M44. The distance between the upper two buttons seems odd. I cannot tell if it is farther than the others but it looks that way.

                  This one is factory produced.

Too bad there is not about an inch more at the bottom and we could see the waist seam. This one is a hard call. I cannot see the two stitchlines running between the pockets and the edges of the lower lapels that you can see in the example Glenn posted. It is hard to see in this one but they are there.
