If you got it from the family why are you worried about the medals? They look fine. Did you buy thisd from a dealer that told you it was from the family or directly from the family?

Because you tell me take care on all you get No doubt all is from one persone, but i can sleep better when i hear all is fine, also the medals!

Out of curiosity how can you tell the difference between the two possible awards based on the photo of the ribbon? The width of the white bands?

You can tell just by virtue of the placement on the ribbon bar. A Lifesaving Medal was placed after the Hindenburg Cross and before Wehrmacht Long Service Awards. A Westwall Medal would never be placed before Wehrmacht Long Service Awards. Westwall Medals ranked not only after the Long Service Awards, but after Annexation Medals as well. Therefore: if that ribbon was a Westwall, it should be placed last on the bar. This is per order of precedence regulations.

Also, that bright yellow color to the ribbon is a good indication that it is a Prussian Lifesaving Medal. Westwall ribbons used a paler shade of yellow and can even be brown in color.

I think the War Merit Cross and Wound Badge are perfectly fine. Great tunic, great insignia, great medals, great ribbon bar. It's a fine piece of history. Congratulations!
