Your camaera does not suck it just is not designed for close ups like that. I can see the lines but not the thread or stitch length, Is it is a really tight close stitch and does the thread match for the tress and the tabs.

Yea it is a tight close stitch and I believe the colors do match

So that means they both were applied at the same time and would eliminate the chnace of it being for a OberFahnrich with the tress alone reapplied over a ghost. The close stitching can be indicative of a modern machine. This would slide me closer to all post War applied.

I've got the same "synthetic" brightness on these straps, on one of my Lw tunics ; but this seems commonly accepted, even in the books (Angolia etc). But on the tunic of this thread the piping is thicker

The piping you have is different and obviously original. I have seen modern examples of piping like the one startign the thread used for overseas cap piping. I think it is synthetic. Towards width etc. looking at the button size compared to the boards, the boards may just be tiny making the piping look much larger.

I just noticed the buttons are not issue, they look like they are twice as big as the regular size so the piping is the size of cord.

If you paid that much for it you got a good deal, the insignia alone minus the boards is worth that.

About the austrian tunic of that thread, if the collar tabs were resewn, shouldn't there be a previous stitiching ? I don't think it could be possible to make disappear that ? Or it isn't visible on the pictures.
