does this tunic look real or reproducioin please help

The tunic is definetly austrian.. there is no doubt about this, these had internal pockets.. I had one like this and seen a few others..

The tunic might be OK, but I have never seen an insignia mix like that on any period portrait picture. jacques

All insignia looks custom. Tunic is not Swiss but is certainly Austrian. I'd love one like that.

The tunic is as noted Austrian Army fabric and style. IMO all the insingia has been added including the tress. Unless you would enjoy restoring it it probably is not worth your time.

Not an exact match. Note the horizontal topstitching across the top creates a much wider welt than the border topstitching on the subject jacket. On the Swiss pocket photo all topstitching is the same width. I assume the first photo in this thread (now blocked by Photobucket) showed the entire pocket?

I'm leaning toward the Austrian tunic conversion.

Yes definately an Austrian conversion which started life as a walking out uniform with stand up Austrian collar and post anschluss converted to Wehrmacht with modified WH collar. The bat-wing pockets are typical Austrian and Paul is absolutely right about the pocket top border stitching comment.
The reenforced shoulder padding (also seen on Dutch uniforms) is also typical for Austrian dress uniforms. Its no doubt a good piece, but possibly denazified and some insignia re-applied.

Senior NCOs btw did on occassion put Officer type collar tabs on their "best dress" walking-out uniforms, which matches the bullion breast eagle nicely.
The thick piping on the shoulderstraps is interesting...no doubt Austrian tailor made rank insignia, which makes perfect sense for an anschluss conversion piece... Nice!

IMO the piping on the boards looks like modern synthetic material and all the insignia appear postwar applied.
