Strange to see a late made M40 with the late lower pocket bellows and only a 5 button front. Normally you see this late type of tunic with the 6 button front referred to as an M41 tunic.

I agree and was trying to figure out if it was reconditioned and reissued in 1942, regardless it is a super nice, but slightly puzzling jacket. The "field made" M43 is nice too built from an overseas.
