    Metal numbers on schoulder boards

I can buy some gold colored metal numbers for shoulderboards, but i got a question about them.
Whats the difference between the gold colored numbers and the silver?
Is gold for officers and silver for NCO's ?

    I hope someone knows
I'm collecting anything related to the towns Castricum and Bakkum during WWII.
Also soldbucher from 116pzdiv. And 1944-1945 eastfront pockets, kampfgruppe and Oder front.

Please don't take this the wrong way, but I'd recommend before you spend money to buy accessories like this that you buy some very basic reference books. The ability to identify the correct components that distinguish between officer, NCO and EM uniforms should be a core competency of every collector.

A good book that is relatively inexpensive and still plentiful in availability is Uniforms and Insignia of the German Army by Brian L. Davis.
