Looks to be an original Heer Artillery strap (not tropical). As far as when the tresse and cyphers (they look good) were added, can't say.

Its definatly an original shoulder board, not a tropical one likly but who knows. Tropical boards have entirely different material, but it looks nice with the tropical tress. I agree with Glenn on the fact that its impossible to say when the tress was added. If you can get it reasonable I would jump on it. Is it a recon board? Looks that color on my monitor. Matt

          Another interesting item Jacques.
If the wear on the tress is consistent with the rest of the strap I would consider the possibility of it being one of the many continental straps worn in North Africa. There is plenty of photographic evidence of continental straps being worn due to shortages.

Thanx for the opinions. The color is actually orange. Well the guy wants $30 for the strap nothing to loose. Jacques

The tress was originally silver but..

I think the tress was originally silver but turned orange due to de-lousing. There was an article on this back in the mid 90's in Militaria magazine.

                    DAK nco shoulder strap??

                    Hello,

Nice strap. Rare color - tropical service especially. If the cyphers equal 21st panzer, then it might be Feldgendarmerie-Tropp 200 (mot.)

Looks to be a continental greatcoat strap modified for tropical use.
