Question about numbered shoulder board buttns

I have a dozen or so numbered buttons ' 10, 13, 15, 42,43, and 48' all painted field gray, but are marked, 'M5/249, M5/314 and have the RZM logo. My question is, I thought only political items had a RZM control mark, or did the Army also use these maker marks? Thanks for any info. Dave.

Some of those might be HJ buttons. Edit, I don't really know much about Heer stuff.

I have never seen Army buttons with numbers in the 40's- As far as I know go up to 14 for companies and 15 and 16 for attached Band and Trian, and I, II, and III for Battalions.

Really, that's interesting. Did I mention also they are pebbled like the regular infantry tunic buttons. I will try to post some pics. These are not pairs but singles. They came from a batch of tunic buttons with different maker marks. Thanks again. Dave.

I am not sure on the markings, the RH started wearing these in 1929 and they also were used in WWI, that said if they have the RZM logo they are asscociated with something related to the N-Party IMO. They could be NS-RKB with the field gray paint? Here are Heer dress buttons,

The number font is identical to mine, except for the field gray paint. Weird.

I have the same ones as well , up to #18 , got them several years ago from an antique sale . They are painted with the typical WH color . Could it be possible that only one manufacturer did these , for everyone ? .
The silver grey were for the parade tunic .
It would be interesting to find more about them .

This is what Angolia's HJ says regarding the numbered buttons.

"The post 1933 shoulder strap buttons are metal and measure 19mm. Buttons are normally a pebbled background in a plain silver, field grey, or field grey with raised arabic Gefolgschaft number."

The buttons in field gray could be Army buttons, the question is what the buttons in the 40s are that are field gray. Numbered buttons were worn on field tunics as well, they just as far as I know only go up to 16 and the I,II,III.
