    Artillery colonels tunic opinions requested

    Hi guys,
i am looking to buy this tunic,
unfortunately its not named and also no maker tag.
Do you guys think this is original WW2 period ?
Not the best images but this is all i have.
    Thanks in advance.

    kind regards,

    eddie

Yes Eddie, that's a nice original officers'tunic. Eagle is oxidized but seems original to the tunic. I think that the EK II wiederholungsspange is a copy but a clear pic of that alone is necessary to be sure.

With that tunic style you can narrow it down to two likely men of the known Regimental commanders:

        Oberst Kurt Geschwandtner 1. Februar 1937 - 15. April 1940

        Oberst Hans Wagner 20. August 1940 -15. Mai 1943

Wagner had a DKiG (as well as an RK) so the first one would be the most likely if the insignia is original

You are welcome but remember that dealers put little clues like this together to hope that we will figure out what we just did. I would look very closely at all the insignia and the tunic as a whole. The white backing material is showing from under the eagle, that usually is a bad sign. It may be 100% real but always thread lightly.

It looks like the wings are pitted? Not the same detail as my originals. Post it in the Iron Cross section to be sure.

Some Eagles have a cheesecloth-type backing, it looks like that is sticking out of the bottom of the eagle and was not sewn on carefully. If you can get a better piture it would help. If the spange is bad I would assume all of it is built.

                      Hi Johnny,
just got a word from iron cross forum, the spange is good
so now this tunic have a better chance to be original.
I guess i will go for it then.

The Spange being real does not mean the entire tunic is good, just that you have one less problem to think about. Make sure you can return it before you buy it. Is it from a well-known dealer? I would wait for more opinions on the spange as well. The wing tips to me look rough. Maybe it is the image. The one I posted is an original L/11

Hmmm... I don't think the tunic is made up. To me it's an original one. The spange being original makes it so much better.

Hi guys, tunic came in and i have mixed feelings about it.
It is very high quality and in almost mint condition.

From my observations i think that shoulder boards looks like its older than a tunic.

Breast eagle could be redone by not tailor or post war.

Also the awards loops was added not by a profesional and really near each other,
what kind of award could it be next to the cross or someone know of awards was worn that way ?
The ribbon bar loops looks professionally done by a tailor.
Also the baton on the left shoulder board is replacement ,something that seller didn't tell me.
My main concern if this tunic was put together ?

If you need anymore pictures of some areas i will take it.

What do you guys think should i keep it or return it ?

                              thanks in advance,

                              kind regards,

                              eddie
