    Thanks,

imo blue striped scarves are post war.
green striped jumpers crew and v neck exist, but ive never seen a green striped scarf.
so, ive never seen to my knowledge a ww2 wehrmacht scarf.

According to my research, wartime scarves ought to have a white-interwoven stripe at both ends, or no stripes at all. Remember that expedient pieces and home-made examples were used at large extents.

      Kind regards,
      Vincent S.

          Hello Gents

I'm the seller of these scarves and i think in my opinion they are the same as the ones offered on the collectors guild. I think P. Whammond has a lot of knowledge to see what he is offering on his site

          see this link

          http://www.germanmilitaria.com/Heer/photos/H051960.html

I really respect your opinion but Johnny, the one you posted from hessen antique have a lighter colour then the ones i offered.

If they turn out to be postwar i will take them from the estand. But by these opinions i'm not 100% convinced they are postwar

if you need other pictured let me know

          best regards

          Erwin

Peter does have a lot of knowledge but he sells consignment so that may be what the vender described the items as. I hope you are right but a difference in color could be from manufacturing or dyes. In the end you need to look at the base materials. The post War BW wools have a synthetic blend of wool that is different than wartime materials.

Here is another example of the BW scarves:

I can not rule out the fact that blue-striped scarves were used by German troops during World War II, but I have found no proof of this as to yet. I can however tell for sure that blue-striped scarves were used by Bundeswehr / post-war Luftwaffe troops. Although I have found proof that there were military-produced scarves during World War II, I yet have to find a surviving example to feature in my book. I am aware of the fact that this will probably never happen though.

I've always understood the blue stripped scares to be postwar BW, just my opinion.

                    scarves

Thanks for all the replies. The woollen items always seem to be one of the toughest items of German ww2 uniforms to id correctly and there are always a range of thoughts.I had believed these ones with the blue stripes to be postwar but did not want to dismiss them outright without some other opinions,
                    Cheers,
                    Paul

                      Hello
These scarves are indeed post-war , I could find them by the bundle in the early 90's on street markets in London , for 5 quid a piece . It goes without saying that later on , they find their way on the collectors market , as original WW2 scarves
                      Regards

                        Hello Gents

After all these opinions about originality, i will remove the thread from the e-stand. I guess the conclusion is clear. Thanks for your help and opinions. .
Can somebody of you show me pictures of wartime produced scarves? There must been some out there who survived the war.
I really like to see how they look and so other people also can see how wartime production should look. Just to learn.

                        best regards

                        Erwin
