Question

I have an opportunity to obtain a tunic that is an upgrade from an Oberst of the General Staff to Generalmajor. The individual's history bears this out. This tunic is piped in red. I don't think it resembles the General Staff waffenfarbe so was probably upgraded when the insignia was attached.

I'm left with the challenge of accepting whether the upgrade is period and want to evaluate the parts. The tunic itself is good.

The boards look good to me but I always doubt myself so your opinions are important.

I think that the tabs look original. Is the tunic an "old style" or a M36 pattern officers?

The piping does not appear on the collar so I am assuming it is an old style. There are however examples of M36 Generals tunics with piping only down the front.

It's an M36 style, not fully piped, just the fly.

The tabs look good, can't say on the boards since you didn't show them. Please show all the parts you want evaluated. With Phil on the job you are in good hands.
