Whats with all the stitch holes around the piping?

They are OK in my book ..

A load were found all stitched together as a kinda blanket or something.., these things happened when times were rough or sometimes it was purely patchwork..
Most were signal, flight and Flak ..

When put in clear cold water the holes might close for most part ..

Nice boards, used on shirts. Tunic boards of this type are rare and expensive.

I've seen pics where they were worn on tropical tunics and even on blue wool tunics, so it is possible ..
