Can anyone tell me whether or not Grossdeutschland troopers wore the named cufftitles on their reed-green (HBT) tunics? I'm piecing together my real but insignia-less HBT tunic for display and am considering my historically accurate possibilities. I don't mind adding repro GD shoulder-boards, but am not going to stich anything on, like a cufftitle.

Ah, I didn't search the forum enough before I posted my question! The answer to my quesiton apparently is NO, usually cufftitles were not worn on HBT tunics:

I have seen very scant photographic evidence of the cufftitle being worn on the HBT...maybe one photo as I recall...and it was an officer. It would not be improper...juts not a very likely thing. My recommendation would be to set the HBT up as an artillery/sturmgeschütz or Pionier set up.CSP

I tend to think so...
I know of a place that sells repro GD straps...but give me a chance to recall who they are...I think it was 1944Militaria or something like that. I probably have it in my research files. As a GD researcher, I tend to track where the fake stuff is coming from.
Yes..I hope an original set of GD straps IS next to impossible to find....that would mean I have aquired them all.

Hi Guys,
there is a nice picture on page 137 of 'God,Honour, Fatherland' showing an NCO with a flare pistol and he is wearing what I believe is a drill tunic with cuftitle and insignia (no collar tbas). I believe it is a drill tunic because of the lay and creasing of the fabric, the use of the drill type collar tresse and the lack of collar tabs. It could be a tailored one (from a grey shelter quarter), but it does give possibly the general impression of what you want to convey.

in the same (superb) title he listed, on the opposite page to the introduction an excellent clear shot of a "GD" Oberfeldwebel commanding an Sd.Kfz.251 wearing a "Reed green" tunic can be seen.

Thanks for all of the feedback guys. I went and purchased a pair of GD boards from 1944 Militaria, and it sounds like I need to get myself that "God, Honor, Fatherland" book. I have had a hard time finding this book--is it out of print? I seem to remember waiting for the second edition to come out and never seeing it...Comment
