My Vet pick-up camos and parkas

I have collected primarly uniforms but have picked up some very nice direct and indirect Vet items on occassion over the years. For non-uniform items I keep one example of each thing and replace it if I can upgrade. Where I grew up parkas and camos were very popular for GIs that were hunters and were brought back perhaps more so than any other clothing items. I check the collection once a year to look everything over so I took some photos this weekend for the Forum.

Splinter to white- this has been painted with white oil based paint. Reported by the son of the Vet to be from the battle of the Bulge.

When I have found complete sets that were used for hunting you find that they did not like the pants and usually only wore the jacket. Here is a Marsh set where the pants are mint and the jacket is lightly used.

Had the jacket but "wore it out and threw it away". Jacket "was worth crap when it got wet" Mint pants

My best non-reversible set- jacket has been worn a couple times maybe. Pants are still creased from warehouse storage and still have the water repellant of the cloth surface.

Give a man an opinion and you feed him for a day,
teach a man to use the "search" function on the WAF and you feed him for a lifetime.

the hunter becomes the prey...in this case you've bagged some fine steers...love the 'smokey' sumpf and mint pants. yes, when wet these things by and large were hell...ages to dry, superbly insufficient. only worked well in dry cold, so i hear. thanks for sharing your annual stock take.

Thanks for sharing. Nice examples ! Is that a large repair on the front of that Sumpftarn Winterjacke? The quilted undergarments are splendid. These are getting harder to find nowadays... Did any of these pieces come with a "Capture Paper" ?

                              Regards,
                              Vincent S.
