Another stupid movie inspired question...

Last night I finally got around to watching "Enemy at the Gates" for the first time since I learned the difference between a RK and a hole in the wall...

Even with my admittedly limited knowledge, I caught a few pretty decent bloopers on the German soldiers. Major König's non-combatant Ehrenkreuz ribbon, for one... Anyhow, presuming that this isn't another movie blooper - what was the oak leaf device on the side of König's field cap?

The oakleaf badge was a standard insignia worn by german soldiers serving in jaeger regiments.

I haven't seen the flick in quite a while, but the the most bogus part I remember was something that Konig did towards the end where - as I recall - he set aside his own RK and, saying that some other medal was one that had been given to his dead son (who conveniently has died for "fuhrer u. vaterland" earlier in Russia), proceeds to wear the other chest decoration at his neck in lieu of his knight's cross...

It was actually RK of the KVK w/swords. THe thing that always gets me is how he dies. In real life he died under a pile of scrap metal while sniper dueling and in th emovie he dies in the open train yard. Overall it was a good movie though.
