          Although it may not be possible to say with certainty, the magnitude and extent of the damage and repairs would lead me to guess that this most likely is the result of post-war use in a POW camp or just as a jacket during the post-war clothing shortages and that it my have had some collector restoration as well.

            There is no visible wear or damage to the pockets and collar. I strongly suspect it was collector restored, probably before good reference books were available.

              may I get some other opinions? Do you think the jacket itself is authentic? The material used in the pockets are not anything new. The collar has some sorta wicker material. There is large numbers printed on a portion of the wicker under collar material. hard to make out.
