        Jon:

I would say that all three of these eagles are 100% correct. I especially like the last one and, for what it's worth, this style of eagle is most often attributed to having been manufactured in France.

        Very nice eagles!

        Regards,

        Drew

I have one like number three, and as far as I know it's good.

              Jon:

The details to these machine embroidered French eagles are distinctly different than the German ones. Specifically, the details are much better. Compare the head, chest and inner wings of this eagle to the others. They are much more detailed. Also, all of these eagles have a wreath that is a plain circle vs. leaves.

I have owned these versions for both breast and cap eagles in the following color combinations:

              Gold eagle / blue base
              Gold eagle / tan base
              Gold eagle / green base
              Blue eagle / white base

In the case of the blue eagle on white base cloth, the cap eagles are frequently seen in a lighter shade of blue- almost a baby blue. I don't know why this is, but you see a lot of them that way.

I used to be an avid collector of cloth Wehrmacht eagles and at one time had over 400 variants. I always liked these French eagles as I thought the details were superb.

              Regards,

              Drew

                  Jon:

No, I don't have any left as I sold my entire collection of cloth insignia in 1994 to help pay for graduate school. Now I collect the eagles and the uniforms to go around them.

I do have some poor quality photos of many of the eagles but have never been able to post them here as I'm not a member. If you're interested, I could try to scan them this week sometime and email a few pics to you. Again, they are poor quality, but you can certainly make out the variants.

Let me know if you're interested.

                  Regards,

                  Drew

                        Very nice selection of eagles!

                        Jon:

If you look in the upper-right corner of the mount of eagles Jay posted, you'll see the light blue French-made cap eagle I mentioned in an earlier post. The two right below it are also French-made as well as the 5th one down on the right (gold on tan), the blue on white breast eagle to it's left and the M43 trapezoid on the lower right.

                        Regards,

                        Drew

Any chance of seeing a close-up of the bullion ones?

and what is the 4th up on the left, and the similar one 6th up on the left?
                          regards
