As some of you have asked me for a copy of the RBNr codes list my wife will try to scan the 140 pages at her job office. I hope this works well and the file won't be very big to send you by email. If not I also can record it in a CD and send by mail. I will let you know.

If you want to act on my behalf I think you should wear a Coastal Artillery uniforn and perform a flamenco around the table screaming "Vive RBN!" while guzzling Sangria.

In seriousness thanks for doing that. That might be something that could be posted as part of the main site reference section.

a fantastic resource and a great, friendly gesture. much thanks. a question, for confirmation. these rbn numbers...should we look out for them on...uniforms? tunics? equipment? if none of these items are relevant to these numbers, what exactly might carry such rbn numbers?
                        thanks in advance.

Until now I have not found any uniform maker, but in the PRODUKT list you can find many "Tuchfrabik" (cloth factory), "Lederfabrik" (leather factory), and even "Uniformtuche" (uniform cloth). Also "Sotoffe für die NSDAP" (material for the NSDAP), ...

Any manufacture industry, for military production or not had its RBNr code assigned, and unfortunately this list seems to be for non military factories. Anyway is a great tool for research the areas, towns, ... and understand much better how these works.

The '0' is simply 'Industrial production'. The '1' could refer to sub-contracting or some kind of artisanal production('Landeslieferungsgenossenschaft').

I'm not sure about this point, but if this idea is right, what about the 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 9 that I have seen.

I have check many of the codes that begin for 2, 3, ... and IMO is clear that the first number of the RBNr code was a reference of the activity of the company.

2/ - was used by Wholesale trading companies
3/ - was used by banks
4/ - was used by insurance companies
                            5/ - by electrical companies
6/ - by hotels and wine and mineral water companies

Unfortunately I have not clear the difference between 0 and 1 that usually we find in the uniform garments and equipment pieces.

                              Hello eduardo

i have checked out the lists that i have recived, and if i look at some of my things, they just fall out off the list.
Atleast the last 3 digits, but you can make out in what area the item is made.
but what if we compare this whit the three letter codes,
maybe we will find something out here

fact is that lists like this does exist for military factory's
i wonder where en when they will pop out.

they sure would help in our research

                              best regards

There are some military producers amongst the producers listed. Might just be civilian factory's obliged to fabricate for the Wehrmacht.

I have linked the RBNr's to the Heeres Bekleidungs Ämter and Luftwaffe Bekleidungs Ämter, just to provide an insight in proximity to these military clothing depots.

                                All the best,
                                Vincent S.
