The board with strange pip placement, promoted but did not want to damage or hide the devices?

        Hi Dave,
nice looking set. The cap is a lovely match for the tunic....no doubt. What is with the extra pip on the straps? That is an odd arrangement I have not seen before......??? Have you checked out the pip to see if this was placed at the same time.....? A Stabsfeldwebel rank pip arrangement should not actually obscure the cyphers if done in the official manner.....(the bottom two pips side-by side near the shoulder seam)
        Cheers, Wade K.

Embroidered cyphers were not used above the corporal rank. Since this tunic is missing the bar across the base that would make the rank a sergeant, all of the pips are incorrect post-war additions. My advice - take them off. Then put plastic between the strap and the tunic itself. Get a toothbrush and dampen it a bit. Then work that over the holes to try and make the holes disappear a bit. The degree of success will depend on the specific manufacture of the straps. Otherwise, that is a beautiful tunic - I love waffenrocks, and have been looking for a panzer one for quite a while.

            Thanks Dave,

This tunic was aquired from a vets estate and I hate to alter this, but I guess it would be proper and look better, I could always put them back,

            Oh,
