Experts on Wehrmacht General ranks --- please share you knowledge...

For some time I have observed that there existed some more or less "odd" Wehrmacht Admin General uniforms. As a headgear collector, I especially find these ultra rare visors for "Non-Combatant General ranks" very desirable (if you should be intersted, here is an old thread on these: http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...hlight=general )

Also, I encountered Marine Artillery General's uniforms that look stunning with their blue, rather than red insignia. I remember comming across some original (!!!) Panzer General collar tabs in pink and reading about a regulation towards the end of the war that introduced insignia in branch colors. I got curious and tried to learn more about these...

A couple of days ago, I found this tunic online: http://www.militarycollectiblesinc.c...p?file=un00205

I do not know enough about uniforms to say if this one is good --- what I see, however, is an old style piped tunic (which I understand ist absolutely OK for General ranks) that had the TSD piping and insignia attached (definitely not before 1944 though because the branch color didn't exist prior to that date). While the branch color looks different than the TSD pipings I have seen before, I would very much appreciate some input on how often such General's uniforms are encountered. Any insignia or tunics (possibly even pants) in other branch colors would also be a great contribution!

      Kriegsmarine Admirals Tunic

This is a KM field gray Admirals tunic for supply. Very nice eagle! Check it with KM-Spain on the site, he has a tunic with pants!

        Thanks Kondor,

that was my inital thought also... would you happen to have a link to KM-Spain's site?

If it is KM, why does it not have the typical Navy buttons like these tunics here (listed under General Officer/Admiral Uniforms/ Luftwaffe Generals, Kriegsmarine Admirals) ? : http://www.themarshalsbaton.com/Framepage.htm

          Hi Kurt,

I had that tunic in my hands some years ago at the SOS and IMO is a very nice and rare original one. The branch color is darker than the usual one found on the Administrative Service.

This one is not for sure a KM Admiral tunic, mainly because the KM never used the old style piped tunic.

Some years ago I bought an Administrative Service General uniform from Weitze. Tunic was made in Austria and was name and dated, but I do not remember the owner info. I sold the tunic just 1 week latter and kept the trousers for my Admiral tunic.

Here some pictures of my KM Admiral felgrau uniform.

          Collars.

The linked image is to a Heer TSD Administrative General. Very VERY rare, but legitimate. I have seen a TSD Judicial General's tunic in a friends collection(same insignia but wine red insignia).

                It is NOT KM

Thanks a lot for those pics km-spain! That is better than any link to a site (I wasn't even aware you owned this tunic)... cool --- thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you also PaulR --- those other branch colors are exactly what I had in mind when I started this thread. Do you or does your friend happen to have photos you could possibly share? Have you ever heard of other colors than blue and wine red?

Laurence... would those collar tabs be worn on a grey collar like Sonderführers or "Officials for the duration of the war", or were they "regular" Generals?

                            Hi Paul

Not my tabs unforuanately. They are a file piccie I picked up from the net.

                            @Kurt

They wore regular uniforms. Here is a photo of a Militarbeamte, he is only of the Middle/Elevated career however the uniforms would be the same.

I have also heared that the Generals with the Military Supreme Court wore a collar tab in their Wine Red tab, however I have never seen any proof of that and there is no mention of it on "The Marshalls Baton". Maybe someone knows the true answer to that.

                            Hope this helps a bit

From the reading I have done and from what I have seen (though I am not a uniform expert) Beamte a. K. wore regular Wehrmacht uniforms.
