What an impressive collection. The time it took to build this collection is clearly displayed in the fine presentation and photographs.

Thank you guys for your comments and attention.
I know only one picture in which the Lithuanian volunteers with type-printed shield. This photo is from the book "Lithuanian military uniforms and small arms of the twentieth century." Here you can see one of the printed version of the shield. Photo is dated 1945, on 1 May.

Congrats on the shields and the photos - they're fantastic! Would it be possible to see the photo of the guy with the helmet?

                        Schutzmann with a helmet.
On the 2 picture - it is the same man, only with pre-war Lithuanian army soldier uniform.

Lithuanian volunteer helmet with three color sign on the side. The inner part is removed, replaced by leather leaves (inserts homemade leaves). Sign painted by hand. The helmet was found in Belarus, not far from Lithuania.
In my opinion, this is the original and very rare instance.

Nice Addition to your Collection (!)

Hi Saulius - a Very Nice Addition to your Collection (!)

The use of older equipment, such as this 'reissued' WWI type helmet [M18 transitional model?],
is consistent with the outfitting of foreign volunteer & related units, IMO.

The use of the hand painted Lithuanian tricolor shield is also consistent with this aspect.

                              CONGRATS! ... Dave / dblmed

Such tricolor marking (of the same shape and same side of the helmet - on the left) you can see in a very rare period photographs.
