My statements and photos were mainly directed at Rikster's statement "For the very simple reason that GD cufftitles were only ever produced in BLACK...................Black only, no other colours."

That's why I posted the photos on the green backgrounds. Not as an argument that the field gray was real. When an absolute statement is made, many newer collectors take it as gospel and will never accept anything other than one on a black background and preach the same to others, unless they do some research.

I try not to write my opinions in absolutes anymore, as I have proven myself wrong too many times.

I will never understand why anyone would fake somethig that never existed. You are correct, I have never seen one either without the excess folded over, and the field gray material shown looks doubtful any excess could be ever be over folded over as its thickness precludes that.

My post did however get you to write some good stuff...thanks!
