    Ain't that the truth? I've seen simple clean uniforms sold appear later with badge loops, buttonhole ribbons, TDBs, DKs, cufftitles - the lot! I take a dim view of these 'enhancements'.

        Beautiful tunic & trousers! A question though. Was it common to see officer grade tunics with the eagle sewn over the pocket? I though early DAK was the only ones to do that. Mike.

        P.S. - I remember the good old days well!! I remember going to show in the early 80's and not being able to scrape up $200 between 4 of us!!

          Good question about the eagle. Since it was found in a German fleamarket, was the eagle still on it?

            Yes, the tunic as you see it is exactly as I found it, including the eagle. That's one of the things I recognized first when I saw it posted last night. A couple of other distinguishing characteristics I remembered was the heart-shaped green material around the dagger slit, and the connecting threat between the two ribbon loops on the inside.

              Steve, I want to thank you for your story and input on this uniform. As we all know that when we buy a piece there is sometimes a story that comes along with it. All we can do is consider our best judgment, experience, reference materials and now a little help from our online community, to help us build a nice collection. Even with all of this sometimes we wonder if a piece is not what it seams to be or that it may have been doctored up a bit. It is nice to find out that all of the time and passion we put into this crazy hobby does realy pay off once in a while. Thanks again Duane
