Piped collar tab - smoke troops?

Would appreciate any help on id'ing this one. Looks like a tab for a field gray wrapper? Thanks.
    Regards,
    Fred

They look nice. Just a shot in the dark... The shape definately looks as if for a wrapper. The color appears to have the Smoke/ Rocket troops shade too it ( or a very washed out/faded red). Could be an individual posted to one of the later Armoured rocket units, Sd.Kfz. 4/1 perhaps, and as opposed to the red for Arty, had these done up denoting the Nebel. service/ backround. Just a thought...

    Neat tabs,
    Joe

      hello,
pics can always be tricky with colors,
in this case i don't think this one matches nebelwerfer waffenfarbe.
i would say faded pink on my screen, but not sure.

Agreed, Just compared a bit more to the red threads on the right scanned tab, also with a few sets of nebel straps here, and definately more pink to it. Funny thing being the shade differences.

          Joe/Derka,
Thanks for the replies. Here is a photo taken in natural sunlight, next to red and pink piped tabs. I don't think it is faded red or pink.
          Regards,
          Fred

Here's a closeup of piping material, it looks like the inner cord material is red. I copied waffenfarbe colors from this site:
            http://www.afrikakorps.org/waffenfarben.htm
Joe - if these are smoke, would they have been custom made, so not a regular issue item? Thanks.

Thanks for the comparative shot. I believe that it is definitely the Nebel waffenfarbe.

                Hi Fred,
with the comparitive shot, definately Nebel, The trick is as with all German Waffenfarbe would be the regulations.
I am not familiar with any regulation allowing for Nebel piped Wraps. ( This doesnt mean one doesnt exist- even for a very short time)

However the good news is that they did form Armoured rocket troops, which the crews would qualify for a wrapper. Pretty much any work around a tracked vehicle, and even then sometimes not even that was a requirement. Infantry wore them as well. So off chance alot of folks wore the grey wrapper.

                It does appear custom tailored.

Again not unheard of especially if one wanted to show the Nebel affiliation.
Though If I am correct the Red for Artillery would have been the norm.

That is a nice string of tabs there, and with the tab in question it does look good.

                Joe
