Good to know it's not a replica, thanks for the inputs. The under collar tab stitching looks like the same type thread used to make the tunic, and there are a few threads and very faint outline of something having been on the left sleeve, higher than a rank chevron.

I think they shortened this by just slicing off the lower skirt instead of trying to move the entire pocket; looks like they left the flap in place which is why the support holes are still there.

      Nice tunic,
probably was used by a reenactor in the 70's

my friend had a beautiful all original m36 nco, that he ripped the litzen off and the insignia to make it an ss em tunic for reenacting...so it goes.

Maybe it could have been used by RAD??

Rad insignia would explain the mark on the arm..

It looks like the squarish collar tabs were sewn on at the same time the tunic was constructed. I doubt it was done by a re-enactor. I have never heard of RAD uniforms made in this color -- or this group using Heer uniforms.... Just some thoughts...

It was most likely an attempt to add SS insignia to a stripped Heer factory produced jacket post war and they tried to match the thread used in the collars reinforcement zig zag stitching to make it look more believable.

Perhaps the insignias were fake and then removed, who knows.

The thread on the block design looks original and authentic, and the same age as the rest of the collar stitching. I don't think this is on here to fool anyone, or was remnant thread left over from a previous application. When you remove the top stitch to get a patch off something, the bottom bobbin stitch comes off the other side as well - the holes could be there, but there would be no solid and complete line of stitching remaining. Since these don't show stitch lines on the top side of the collar, this stitching was done before the collar halves were assembled.

I'm not sure what these thread boxes are doing here, and have never seen such a thing on a tunic. I don't think it was an SS tunic, but whatever type tunic it was it didn't have a breast eagle.
