    M43 Uffz - eagle original ?

    Hallo

I am planing to sell this tunic in the near future, its a M43 in very nice condition with all insignia original to it, but i guess the eagle is not. Please have a look because i do not want to sell as all original when it isnt ...

The stichting goes through the lining, and the eagle is parallel to the pocket
but there is no sign of an older stitching ?!

Here is the tunic with subdued tress and boards

Can you post photos of the area were it is sewn through the lining?

Herbert, that is not the eagle that the tunic would have been issued with. It would have been mouse grey on fieldgray. It is obviously a replaced eagle, post war done imo, based on the thread and condition of it, used . Interesting though is the way it is stitched. Jacques

I know that this is not the correct eagle for a M43, but i have seen period pics
where such an eagle was applied. Does not mean period done in my case of course ... here are pics from the inside of the lining. The green thread of the eagle is exactly the same as you can find on the upper pocket ...

Ah,but Jacques I believe you are incorrect in your statement. I have seen M43 jackets with these type eagles, original factory sewn. I believe the eagle on the jacket posted is factory applied as well and I like how it is sewn.

These fellows might not agree with you either.

                  Hi guys,

the eagle could have been an NCO up-grade? Also, I can faintly see that the origional eagle may have been a triangle type? Good looking tunic.

I am agree with Glenn and I also have seen late war tunics with this type eagles. Glenn and Steve thanks to show time pictures with that bird, very interesting.
About the tunic posted by Ostmark, the eagle is in my opinion original applied, I like how is stitched to the tunic, the same way as this eagle is sewn on this 44 wrap I have in my collection.

If upgraded then unlikely it would be sewn to copy that of factory type application,IMO... And if upgraded I would expect to see a form of flatwire eagle used.

Some may remember this Veteran found jacket.

Hi Ostmark, Nice close up pic of the thread. I agree, the thread and the way it is stitched looks good for factory sown IMO. We have to keep an open mind when it comes to what bird should be on what model jacket, the period pics show that there was exceptions to the rule, regards, Bill
