The production details of this jacket (in my opinion) are classic and quite unique, and original ( you do not see this attention to detail even on the high end repros), that this attention to detail was paid in the end game of the reich is quite amazing, and something I've seen in a few other pieces, quite a nice and rare tunic in this cut, condition, and date.

Robert, these are suprisingly "fairly" common to see. Do a search for Italian cloth tropical tunic etc. Yours is very nice and appears unissued. The pants made in the same material are also out there but much more rare. I have a pair but no photos here.

Here is a recent thread on these:

Nice comment Billbert; it actually is an interesting footnote to this last production gasp. It's like finding a field calender dated through 1946 - it just looks kind of strange to remember the Germans intended on continuing the fight.

John, thanks for putting this in context in terms of rarity. I'd love to see those trousers sometime!

A friend had these pants, hope he does not mind me posting. These are made of the same material as the tunic.

Those are the same as mine made of the Italian dark yellow cloth, not HBT.

THANK YOU for posting these unusual trousers. I realize you don't have them in hand, but do you recall if they had an issue date stamp?

Interesting features...a flapped watch pocket, adjustable cuff buttons, good amount of waistband sewing to include suspender brace straps. Do you recall if the rear pockets were eliminated?

John, if you have time to post some general photos of yours, it would be interesting to see if they are the same model.

I see you were commenting while I laboriously typed - thanks for the comment, John. Seems there was a modified keilhose-type trouser made for this tunic - curiouser and curiouser!

                    Regards, Robert

No rear pockets, and yes the do have issue stamps. E 4? can't make it out.
