I didn't think the Spanish Army wore the sahariana during or after the war. Was there a spanish Civil war connection or wartime connection between Spain and Italy? I know Italy participated in the Spanish civil war and I thought they had troops in the vicinity of sevilla.Clearly this is a textbook example of an Italian made sahariana. Question is if its wartime or postwar. Jim

I have the same model but make in wool.

I think that this kind of tunic are made in Spain during the war for Italian soldier.
                So are sure period tunic.
In Italy are many Sahariane made after the war for the Italian protectorate in Somalia but are a little bit different.

                    Francois,

I never realized the Spanish Army used this type of tunic. Thanks

                    Stefano,

I read that the Italian military stored a lot of saharianas after the war. At some point the military sold off a lot of these stocks which ended up in the collectors market. They were sold as postwar but many were in fact WWII. Do you happen to know what the major differences were between the postwar and wartime tunics?

                    Regards Jim

The only difference are the material.

You are right when you say that many wartime tunic was in Army depot and this too have modern stamp, because when the army sell this items make stamp with the date of the exit.

                        Jim,

To be perfectly clear, I never say THIS TYPE of sahariana, but only that they used Sahariana in the Spanish Legion

                          Hi Francois,

I understood that you meant the legion wore the Sahariana as a uniform type and not necessarily the same model as the one I posted.Sorry if it didn't come across that way.Regards Jim
