            Hi Ben,

Assmann made, but 'commercial' types. Look at the commercial marking 'Extra Fein'! NOT army issue for tunics etc. (these have the 'hollow' or 'dish' type). These COULD even be post-war, repainted in Feldgrau. Post-war tunics (BGS, Polizei, BW) have the same type of Assmann 'sferical' buttons, with the same markings. A lot of them surfaced some years ago, but it is hard to thell if they are period painted FG, or repainted post-1945. To make things more complicated, Assmann made the same buttons pre-1945, but IMO only for dress tunics, so in a semi-matte silver colour. For a period combat tunic you would better want the issue 'dish'-shaped buttons: brass painted FG until 1935, aluminium painted FG 1935-1941, steel painted FG 1941-1943 or steel painted 'Einheitsfarbe'(blue grey) 1943-1945.

            Greetings,

            Lucius
