Recon tunic ?

Hi, I don't know much about the embroidery of letters and numbers on shoulderboards, and would like some opinions on the likelyhood of this parade tunic being legit. Thanks

Looks nice from what I can see. There were several AA7's over time, but this is most likely the recon battalion for the 4. Panzer-Division. (I'm away from home and do not have my references readily available.)
In a shameless grab, I'll let you know that I would be interested if you're selling it, since my main collecting interest is recon units.

Thanks for the replies guys, i did know it was recon but i was wondering about the ' possibility ' of the shoulderboard numbers and inspection stamp being post war applied to enhance it's value. I believe it's good but id be interested in other opinions.

There is no way to say 100% but in my opinion the stamp and embroidery stand a very good chance of being post War added. The unit was not formed until August 1939, that makes me even more skeptical although others may not agree.

Can you post pictures of the entire tunic, the underside of the straps, and a picture of the inside shoulder seam. Pictures of the reverse of the straps and the shoulder seam will tell the story.

Here are some pictures i have of this tunic, these wer taken when Dick Michael had it for sale. Its now with another dealer.

From the pics it doesnt look like the seams been messed with, but then if the tailors good enough ii cant imagine it would be a hard job.

I am not real warm on the embroidery and the stamp, it is possible the letters and number are period but the quality is low. I am also not liking the new looking stamp etc. I cannot say it is not period but I remain skeptical . . .
