    Interesting Freies Indien shield application

Interesting application of Freies Indien arm shield on field hockey jerseys !!!
(a popular sport for Indian troops) So if you ever come across such a shirt (chances are slim to none),
its an authentic application!!! Note goal keeper on the right with a shield on his knitted sweater!

Image dated 1944... some r&r, taking a break from Atlantic Wall guard duties!
Both officers are wearing tropical dispatch riders mantels!

      Remarkable photo.

Thanks for digging it out of the archives.
One wonders what other gems are still to be discovered in its depths?

Perhaps one of the greatest collector/student tools to have been given us in the last few decades.

Wow Nick great picture and as you indicated interesting way of applying the arm-shield on their jerseys. By the way the arm-shields look larger in size compare to those worn on their sleeves.

Perhaps larger, but their shields were huge! Here's a close up! (same source)
