    Stabsfeldwebel Artillerie Rgt. 97

Once a part of Artillerie Regiment 96, the I Abteilung of Artillerie Regiment 97 provided heavy artillery support for the division.
Here are a pair of Stabsfeldwebel straps from the 97. Artillerie Regiment.

      Pionier Abteilung 80

Pionier Abteilung 80 would provide the engineering support for the 44th. Here is a single Oberleutnant board from Pionier Abeilung 80.

        Nachschub Abteilung 44

Supply for the division was provided by Nachschub Abteilung 44. On this pair of Oberleutnant's boards, from Nachschub Abt. 44, you will notice the use of like style cyphers to both the Artillere Rgt. 96 boards and the Leutnant's board from Inf. Rgt. 134 that were posted earlier. Also both the Nachschub and Artillerie boards use enlisted pips.

          Beobachter Abteilung 44

Beobachter Abteilung 44's association with the 44. Infanterie was short-lived. By December 1939 it was detached from the division and became Heerestruppe. In this tailor made enlisted strap, from Beobachter Abteilung 44, you see an identical construction style to the enlisted strap from Inf. Rgt. 132 that I posted earlier.

An Austrian sister division of the 44th was the 297. Infanterie Division. Here is a rare strap for an Oberfeldwebel of Artillerie Regiment 297.

All very nice pieces recently added. I especially like the Feldbluse strap from Pionier Abteilung 16!

                            Heinrich Dörnemann

I don't have any definitive proof of this; but, these boards possible belonged to Heinrich Dörnemann of Panzer Grenadier Rgt. 64. He was an RKT while serving with Panzer Aufklaerungs Abteilung 16. Later, he became commander of Panzer Grenadier Rgt. 64. Being the unit commander, he might have exercised his perogative and kept his gold Waffenfarbe. I can't find any other unit number that might fit these boards.

I am sorry, I do not have any boards or straps to show. Only a photo of my father who was in the 16th Panzer Div.

                                RBMinis,

That is one of the coolest panzer photos I have seen. Not only is your father's cap "pinched in" for that worn look, but he has a panzer skull on the front instead of the wreath. I have never seen that in another photograph. Do you have other photographs of him wearing his cap? Thanks for sharing with us.

                                Richard
