Summer tunic - model 44

I was wondering what would be the definition for this type of tunic,
I know that it's not tropical, ... just made of the same type of fabric,
The shoulder boards didn't come with tunic, I added it later,
...are those Ok for this type of tunic or I need to find something different?

Looks like a very nice factory produced tropical M43,interesting the use of non standard type insignia,perhaps all that the factory had at the time.

Not necessary. Many tropical collectors definited it as 4 pattern of tropical jacket. It's made of the same fabric.The only diffrence between standart tropical jacket and one you hav shwon ;are one more button and hook and eye. This type would be very good for northern italy (specially because it more colder area of italy).

This is the type manufactured in Italian tropical material, it usually is seen with continental insignia either the traingle or the midwar type in FG. It is Tropical/Sudfront but not DAK, just a hot climate field service tunic.

Here is one dated 1945 with tropical insignia. It is made of brushed cotton. Note the pockets still have the scallops.

...so DAK=five buttons & no hook,
...Tropical not always DAK......

[I have a 1944 dated tropical tunic. The cloth and the eagle are different. They are similar in the fact that the eagle was sewn before the pockets.

Basically I think of the Italian material tunics as a late war Sudfront lightweight M43-type tunic, there are tan HBTs too. Glenn of course had to have a weird variation that does not fit into exisiting catagories, it looks like an early style of the Italian tunics made with a slightly different material.

What are somewhat inncorrectly termed "DAK tunics" usually refer to the first and second pattern tropical tunics, and with a debate still unresolved, if the third pattern tunics were actually used in Africa or not and if so on what scale etc.

Although the early tunics were designed specifically for North Africa, all these tunics were also used on Southern Europe, Greece etc. but are not really DAK unless they were used by the Afrikakorps etc.

Semantics always takes the fun out of everything unless you are a semasiologist
