Luftwaffe Tropical Shirt Markings- Question

This question directed at Willi, John or Francois,

A friend of mine just picked up 2 tropical Luft short sleeve shirts. Having searched this forum I found a number of threads on this subject and the numerous fakes. What I would like to know is are there any tell tale faker markings? The two shirts have RbNr but two different styles of size marking one is marked 'Gr2' the other is marked with a Roman 'II' Markings in the collar.

Hi Mark,

Here is a quick pic of some markings on repro Luft tropical shirts.....used for reenacting, but commonly encountered on the collecting market. There is a batch of very nicely done Luft trop short sleeve shirts coming out of Europe. They are a darker shade of tan, almost a brown, and have some "non-textbook" buttons. The eagles are rather convincing. Have encountered them on the US market in the $250 range. We would really need to see some photos to truly help.

Hi Mark,

The "Gr 2" and the "II" size marks could both be ok. I'll PM you details, I don't want to post them here. It would be impossibe for me to help on markings alone because some, like Willi's RB number posted above, are credible, while others are, thankfully, totally ridiculous. If you can post detailed photos of the buttons, breast eagles, collar construction, etc., I can give a better judgment.
