    Ummm, what is this?

    Hello all,
    My "uniform" skills are weak...
I got this in a greouping of small items what are supposed to have come from an SS officer.
Can someone please tell me what this is and whether it is authentic, please...
    THANK YOU!
    Johnny

Looks like a "Rangabzeichen für Sonderbekleidung" or rank insignia for clothing withouth shoulderstraps.

But I don't like it actually.
It lacks the features that I would like to see on an original wartime example.
It even lacks the oakleaf above the two yellow "bars".
The only existing original version of the ones with golden bars came with an oakleaf above the bars.

If it had the oakleaf it ought to have it was for the rank of "Generallleutnant".

        Best Regards,

        Vincent S.

It could be an odd style cut slide for an O. Anwarter, I would post in the SS section.

Looks to me like an old Reichswehr NCO sleeve rank - worn on the left sleeve.

Thanks for the input thus far. I have posted a link in the SS forum to this thread.
Also, this cloth piece is black and silver, not gold. It appears slightly gold because of teh artificial light that I had to use on a cloudy day when taking these pics.
              Thanks,
              Johnny

Those are marksmanship ratings used before the Schutzenschnur. I don't have my books with me but If I remember correctly they were on field grey and with the normal RH tress.

                    Reichsautobahnen-strassenmeister Passants, 1942-45

These may be for the Reichsautobahn.

See Plate 21 of "Badges & Insignia of the Third Reich by B. L. Davis.
