    Question on Heer Officer's belt

    Hi all,

I hope this is the right forum for this belt question. Being part of a uniform I figured it was OK. I just received this nice brown officer's belt and was alwarmed at the width of the belt, 5.7 cm wide. I have many belts in my collection, all measuring around 4.5cm wide. Even the buckle is a large 7.7 cm wide (tall). My other officer's double claw buckles are roughly 6 cm wide (tall). This belt is backed with a blue felt, which I presume would be for either a private purchase combat tunic or a walking-out tunic. *Question: Would this belt be typically used for a combat belt?

It is clearly marked 'Berlin 1939', and above that '_______LER & Co.'

    Any help would be appreciated.

    Robert

I believe the maker is Springer & Co. Most probably worn by a Luft officer or perhaps Army as well.

          Hello,
Springer & Co is famous for its wide Officer belts.
Of course it could have been worn in combat, but not an easy task to find equipments that could be fitted to it. Too wide for standard belt loops.
the other wideness are 50 mm and 45 mm. This leather color would have been used by Luftwaffe officers and Heer officers (early times)

          and it is felt lined....

Thank you both very much. Do you know of anyone who could supply the loop that holds the end of the belt when worn? I never gave this a thought when I bought it...

The loops are the rarest parts ... when I realized that I stopped buying belts without a loop ...

This is my first without. I just took it for granted...well, I was wrong. A little closer examination in the future. I'm just going to have a local leathershop make a loop for display purposes.

                Thanks,
