Grateful of information regarding these two..

    Hi,

I don’t suppose anyone could help me with a little information about these two eagles.

I’m wondering whether they are original?

If anything can be gathered from the breast eagle backing and whether it’s an OR or NCO/Officers eagle?

The cap eagle draws a blank – can anyone identify or provide any information about it?

    Regards,
    SL

The army eagle looks good. However I have never seen a white thread Bevo version of this eagle sewn to dark green backing like that. Normally I see the silver thread done in this manner.

LW eagle IMHO I don't like it.

I do not the the Luft eagle either. Are my eyes going backing on the first eagle is black or green? Mike.

        Eagle

        Greetings Sam,

Your first eagle is a 2nd pattern, white on dark green, enlistedmans, breast eagle mounted on a wool or badge cloth backing. This was done sometimes on a walking out uniform to give it more depth and style. My scanner shows the backing to be dark green.

My thanks for the interesting comments so far..

I agree with you Mike; even with the eagle in front of me (with bright lights shining down on it) I’m having a really hard time deciding on what color it might actually be.

Is it safe to say that it is definitely not a panzer NCO eagle?

As for the Luftwaffe cap eagle – a visit to the Collectors Guild helped solve part of the mystery. It is (or is supposed to be) a M43 trapezoid LW cap insignia. Including a screenshot of what one original looks like for comparison. Would still be very grateful to hear from anyone who specializes in these things who could voice a definitive opinion about it.

As it stands now, I agree with you guys that the breast eagle seems ok whereas my LW cap eagle (not the one featured in this post - as that's an original from the Collector's Guild - just to clarify) is so lacking in detail (and the back is different from a known original) as to raise doubts..

            Eagle

            Greetings Sam,

Your Heer breast eagle is the standard enlistedmans eagle. It is white on dark green. It was used by all Heer branches. The panzer specific eagle of this pattern would be white on black.
