    Here is a Kriegsmarine officer's set, entirely in bullion

    and the reverse. Naval insignia, when removed from caps, usually show a degree of weather and salt wear heavier than land based troops

      A 1930s-early WW2 army officer's set. This early style bullion wreath, in contrast with the larger (and uglier!) M1943 type, is made to match the same size and shape as metal wreaths, and has a metal, not bullion, cockade:

        The reverse. The matt silver finished aluminum 3 prong eagle is marked by Berg & Nolte and dated 1938.

        Many of this style wreath have a ventilator hole through the cap's band and the red center of the cockade, having red mesh instead of felt there. This one does not allow sweaty foreheads to "breathe."
