Cut insignia still attached to uniforms..

    Early Fallschirmjager sometimes wore chevrons for the ranks of Gefreiter and Obergefreiter on their smocks while the gull rank insignia was for ranks Uffz. (Oberjager) and higher. That is probably what is suggested here though I am not confident of the originality of this piece.

      Thanks for the reply. I'll try to make a thread about it sometime soon and hopefully get some more opinions on it

        Unpacking in house move, think I posted these some time ago.

        But just found them again..

        Love them, supposedly a Normandy pick up from U.S vet.

                      Obviously I agree completely. The Heer chevron is a concern to me.
