I've seen tunics at shows with big holes in their sleeves and breast part, it was very, very depressing, someone just cut the insignia out and dumped the jackets..
The tunics were in great condition and ruined for life.

... but when I see prices of cut insignia I think it's worth it to cut your whole tunic in pieces ... , remember it's yours, not mine, so grab the scissors and make someone happy ..

The battle field cut insignia are great, but certain postwar jobs makes me shiver.
It's a bit like selling a helmet in parts to gain some extra $$, or splitting a nice group of medals and documents or ruining photo albums..

      Jos.

Quick pics, let me know if better shots desired. I've always loved cutoffs, these are pretty common. Dexter

As a topic for discussion. I am seeing less and less 'original' cut insignia available for sale at shows, even the big shows. The Max offered slim pickings and I discussed this with others. I did see, however, quite a bit of SS cut insignia which most did not think were original items. Luftwaffe cut insignia appears to continue to be very popular but the supply is decreasing. While the SS stuff is easy to apply to a peice of wool, the Luftwaffe pieces are very tough to mess with, IMO. Because of pocket linings, cap features, tunic features, etc.

I agree with your observation Willi. I saw a luft cut-off in a dealer's case in front of Ron Wolin's table. It didn't have much uniform attached and was closely trimmed around the eagle. Have you ever looked through Bill Shea's cut-offs? I know he had a "pile" of them. I've seen these same ones over the last couple years at the MAX and SOS.

I looked through all the pages of this thread and there are some great collections on here. Just got this bevo police eagle on HBT a few days ago. This is my first police item and I think it looks very cool. Thanks to the police forum guys for giving it the thumbs up as I am not a police collector

The back. GI must have got worn out of triming tunic off and gave up.
