    Leather luft jacket opinion please

    Hello Gentlemen,
May I have your opinion on this luft jacket made in France and called "cyclist" . The seller says that luft officer during the war used to buy these kind of French taylor jacket as a prvate purchase and use them as flying leather jacket . I never heard about that before but maybe someone has read this story somewhere before in a book .
Could you please tell me your thoughts.
Thank you for looking at the photos .

Notton, these jackets were fashionable during the period and were used for various purposes, eg motorcar driver/ mptorcyclist, pilot etc. A lot of then became luft pilot jackets at a much later stage for collector purposes. To identify a real pilot jacket you have to look at the wear patterns on the jacket and see if they are typical for that of operating an aeroplane. Under the left elbow for operating the joystick, over the shoulder for safety and parachute harness, the lower back for parachute chafing, wear on the insignia wear the straps passed etc. They are quite difficult to identify from pictures. Hope this helps. Jacques
