Mega-mint "panzer-knacker" Tdb Uniform

Gents,

Submitted for your consideration, the unworn Feld Bluse of LT Max Mehlhorn. Recipient of five TDBs and the German Cross in Gold while serving as Platoon Leader (Fhj.Fw.)GR 481, 02.10.1943. LT Mehlhorn was killed on the Eastern Front shortly after his commissioning.

- Uniform is named and dated. Date corresponds with his commissioning as a Lieutenant and tailor is located in LT Mehlhorn's hometown.

- Uniform also came with a PEKURO visor which he is clearly wearing in photograph as a Fahnen-Junker Feldwebel.

- This grouping originally came complete and I am attempting to purchase the large German Cross document which I have located.

- TDBs are magnetic and upon close examination have the blue wool backing.

- Pants are also unworn and although not marked, clearly came from the same tailor as the material is a dead match and obviously from the same "bolt".

-Although the uniform in the two pictures of him as a Fahnen-Junker Feldwebel is not the same as mine, the tailoring characterics are somewhat the same, i.e., unique positioning of Infantry Asslt Badge and shape and location of collar tabs.

Don't 'throw in the towel' yet, if I am able to purchase the Mint Large German Cross document then you can 'come out with your hands up'!

Seriously, at the risk of getting 'deleted' fron this thread, any idea what a FLAK-88 optical sight is worth?

You should come to Stuttgart for the show in March.

I'd like to see the magnetic TDB's or how that works....never seen that before.

Fahnen Junker Feldwebel Mehlhorn prior to his commissioning. Notice he wears a combination of officer/NCO insignia/headgear proper for a 'cadet'. Also, counter to regulations, he wear's his Eastern Front ribbon above his Bronze CCC.

The grouping was sold by the widow in 1997 as a complete set to a German Collector to include most of the documents and decorations. Recently, the collector sold the grouping and separated the uniform from the documents/awards. I have managed to track down the Large German Cross document and the German Cross empty case and will make an offer to the collecter shortly.

The uniform was purchased by Relics of the Reich and purchased by me. I need to thank Relics of the Reich for a tremendous deal and assisting me in finding the other pieces. Paul Jarvis is an exceptional dealer and just a good 'dude.

The German Cross (mint '134') did not come with the uniform. Although original, it was not issued to LT Mehlhorn.
