One comment from the peanut gallery...I think the WWI ribbon bar is a red herring...from this picture of the actual loops, it seems to me that this officer had only a one place ribbon bar based on the spacing and wear. I think the WWI bar was just added along the way by someone and has no bearing on the discussion. Regarding the supposed spange, I would like to see a good pic of the other loops...

As you will see, something "funky" is going on with the loops, but I'm not quite sure the loops are necessarily reflective of a spange. Anyway, stay tuned.

Also, although I don't collect uniforms, I have looked at thousands of RKT portraits. There is something odd about this one. The shapes, proportions and shadows look slightly out of whack, like it was retouched or otherwise period modified by the photographer. This was done commonly during the war to reflect promotions, or additional awards without taking a new picture. I have even seen cases where officer caps were added to an enlisted photograph to reflect a promotion. This work was often quite well done.

I must say I love the walking out piped tunic, also the Waffenrock, they are fantastic BUT, I see them as individual pieces and not in the form of a Panzer officer set.
After the details and observations of several of the forum members in the forum about the tunic(m-36) and the rest of the group theres a very important part that have been overlook in detail/analisis, and the reason why is so important for the group.......the tailor tag/officer name, after all THIS IS the link to the soldier.
For my personal opinion and deduction the tailor tags show to much fading for the type of wear of the tunics who have them, and then theres the handwriting, somebody try to duplicate the type of writing in one of them, you can see the diferences quite clearly, look at the # 39 in the date, the capital F and the name itself, you can see where the hand who made the writing made the slow stops and the lettering is to spaced(I belive this tailor tag have problems!)
Why somebody try to imitate the same handwriting of the officer(here is clear that the soldier did not do one of them) or tailor wich has the same date? This for me is big (?) and a red flag....there where two hands and one of them had an identity problem! AND NO, I am not saying Mr. Gottlieb did it, just to be on record.
Again this is only my personal opinion and would love to own that piped walking-out tunic......but as a single item and priced as such

You are correct NTZ, in fact your imput in the small details and the B/W photo comparison was very helpful to prove your point in the look of diferent material. Also you are correct about the size for this tunics for the time, 36,38 where very common sizes during the time for combat soldiers, in fact the big tunics are usualy political/clerical ones!!

Hello all - I have been traveling all week, and will finally have the chance to read this thread tomorrow. Without having read the thread much at all (even as I type this message whilst at the airport, waiting for a flight), my likely course of action will be to take the comments under advisement, give a nice thorough reply here, and then make any changes that the discussion persuades me to make in the actual listing, so that the offering reflects my conviction about the group, whatever that turns out to be. Thanks again for all who provided their input. Whatever changes I do make, I'll be sure to mention conflicting views, just to be fair. And, as I have had requests to break up the group, I'll likely do so (so far, two of the tunics are in essence, spoken for by members reading these threads, pending a price breakdown).

I'm not sure what you mean by "conflicting views", as I have read the entire thread and I see no support that this group of uniforms actually belongs to the RKT in question. Quite the contrary.
However, I await your posting with an open mind.
