      Cockade

      John,

That's pretty cool -- the way it's attached.

Thanks Mike, the history of little oddities like this intrigue me. Would love to have seen the hat it was removed from and know who wore it.

          Oddities

My wife thinks I am one of life's little oddities ... so I can relate.

I am like you. I love these tiny little variations and tailor and manufacturer touches. When you collect waffenrocks, as I do now, you find no two of them alike. Tailors added all sorts of little features to their product. Of course, it makes them fascinating in that respect as well -- the "art" of tailoring and customizing to their customers' needs.

The center was padded to raise the cockade.

Mine looks at my riker mounts of Luft. breast eagles and says, "they all look the same." They are all of course differing designs and on different backings, no duplicates at all!
