        Hello,

I know it as "last pattern" Gefreitenwinkel.

They're also available as Obergefreiter with double angles without cloth base.

        All the best,
        Andreas

What it is verses is it real...

While the "last pattern" gefreiter is a proper identification, let's look at the last photo you posted.

The back side of the cheveron has a solid green border, while the front has a purplish cord running the length along the tresse. To me, it appears that original, old stock was used to make this. However, they got it backwards, the front of the 'winkel' should be flipped over to the back, which has the clearer, more defined edge and diamond pattern. It is possible, and probable, that mistakes were made during war-time manufacture, in which case this could be one of those mistakes.

If you could post a photo of the "back" side of this chervon, including the top edges and the joint at the bottom, I could be more conclusive.

            In my humble opinion,
            Scot
