Holy moly, this is very exceptional Ricardo

Wonder what reactions would be if such a tunic was offered for sale somewhere?

I keep on repeating this, never say never in our hobby! We haven't seen it all for sure!

          Cheers

Very interesting. Could he have ordered or converted a WSS black service tunic? Frank

Very interesting!!! That looks like a black Allgemeine-SS tunic... Or it could have been privately tailored.

                  EDIT: sent you a PM

WOW! When I saw the painting I immediately thought "fantasy painting" - especially with the "tanks" in the background, but to have the photo is just unreal. I don't think it's an SS rock from the cut of the lower pockets, however - he must have had it privately tailored, or perhaps dyed black...

                      Makes you wonder

I wonder what would collectors would say if that tunic showed up at a show or on this forum" a postwar/tailormade tunic dyed black and reassembled,If not an outright fake" I can assure you that's what I would've said.

I looked at Mike Beaver's book Uniforms of the Waffen SS, volume I, page 58, and the cut of this tunic looks very similar.

                          Thanks, Frank

                            Tunic

This is not an M40 tunic which is what you called it, it was either a SS piece or fire police etc. converted or tailor-made.

I love surprises like this. I know of another totally non-reg tunic and visor that a friend has in his collection which would have all the forum experts here crying 'fake' and 'put together', yet it came with a very nice, clear period studio portrait of the soldier in that exact uniform. It belonged to a guy attached to fuhrerhauptquartier, which makes it even more amazing that a guy would be wandering around Hitler's HQ in something so bizarre.

                                VERY nice grouping!

                                Here's a similar black buttoned tunic...............this time SS-Totenkopf.
