    Luftwaffe Trade/Specialist Badges

I was curious to know if there have been any reproductions of any of the Luftwaffe trade/specialist cloth arm badges, besides the reproduction medic badge Cyrus Lee has for sale at SOLDAT.

Other than one picture of a non-rated male obergefreiter and a few pictures of female Luftwaffe auxiliaries, I have not seen much photographic evidence of the trade/specialift badges in use.

    Trade Patches

Trade Badges Go there. That is a page on my website the shows all of the trade badges and photos of their wear. There are many photos of these in usage. I think that it was fairly common in the Luftwaffe to wear them if they were earned.

I have not seen reproductions of these yet. They are still fairly cheap, so no real market for repros. But, let the price rise and be ready for the repros.

      Hi I Freigeist,
belive it or not these have been reproduced ! a chap i knew had several items reproduced in the early eighties (origonaly as gap fillers for his collection) ? but i do not think it was in very large numbers but certainly the following were copied,
Teletype operator with piping, qualified radio operators, qualifier sound locators, radio operators, serchlight equipt. aircraft tech. personel these just from the top of my head !!!. but the copies were to large to be origional !! He also had all types of collar tags reproed some with moth nips ! for authenticity. One of the best copies he had done was the the War Order of the German cross in cloth one of the first copies ever made with the metal wreath the easiest identifiable point was that the date read more like 1911 rather than 1941.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but iam sure that some of these copies are around locally if i can get my scanner working again i will try and borrow one to scan.
Also all the shields were copied and some of the Cossack badges.

        Luftwaffe Trade/Specialist Badges.

One of the reasons I took a hard look at stepping back into any aspect of Third Reich collecting is the explosion of reproductions. Most of my Luftwaffe trade/specialist badges were acquired from The Collector's Armoury at 800 Slater's Lane in Alexandria, Virginia, sometime in the way-early 1980s. Few, if any, fakes and forgeries existed at that time of the more common items, but times have changed drastically. I'd like to see scans if you can acquire...
