    Shooting Lanyard - 3 Cord????

Were third reich period shooting lanyards ever constructed of three, intertwined cords instead of the commonly seen two? I saw one this weekend in a shop and was a bit puzzled as every shooting lanyard that I can recall having seen was made with two cords. Any inputs appreciated.

    Best Regards,

    Shawn

From my textual research and from having seen a private-purchase marksmanship lanyard offered on a site as well as having seen one in wear in a clear period photo, my best description would be private-purchase lanyards utilized 3 mm cords wherein two parallel cords were intertwined with 2 additional 3 mm cords, resulting in more total "twists" than encountered on issue lanyards.

As for a lanyard with 3 cords intertwined together, that is not something I have come across in several years of research.

I have a level 1 heer shooting lanyard in my hand here and the heavy braided section is a single length of about 8mm width cord braided. the medalion end is made of 3, 3mm cords braided to form the section for the metal shield to attach to
