Missed the boat on that description didn't I?. Thanks for the information guys. At least it is an officer tunic, (or the equivalent) so I hope the Shako itself is appropriate for the tunic. I am going to post 14 pictures of it now.

I see the fathfull service cross has be reversed. My uboat friend Edgar had his father's faithfull service medal displayed that way as well till he met me and I explained it should be displayed with the swastika faceing outwards that the medal deserved to be displayed with the same honor any medal awarded reguardless of country. And from day onward it hung they way it was supposed to hung with honor and respect to his departed father. His fathers medals now reside on my wall and will continue to be displayed with the same honor and respect

Interesting point. Unfortunately the FSC itself is now detached. As I was lifting up the medal bar to put it back in the case after taking the pictures the cross just fell off. What is odd is the way it was sewn to the bar at the time compared to the other medals. See picture 11 and you will see what I mean. I am reasonably certain it came off once before and was intentionally re-sewn (poorly) to the bar with the swastika inwards. Eventually I shall re-attach it myself, but I will make a decent job of it and position the swastika facing outwards.

I know the dealer who sold me that medal bar quite well, and he told me that he obtained it from a man whose late father was a veteran and liberated them from a senior German officer at war's end along with the matching ribbon bar. I purchased both. As far as we know, neither item has been fooled with or modified since the war.

Having said that, here is a picture of the ribbon bar. Notice the last two ribbons are reversed. Another of life's little mysteries.

It is quite possible the original owner removed the cross and reversed it and re-sewed it back on reversed to comply with not haveing the swastika visable so the medals could be viewed in public which is what I believe happened
